Eating well is an essential part of being healthy, but is increasingly difficult in this day and age. At Avatar, we focus more on foods then on nutrients. That is not to say we ignore dietary restriction or the benefits of a nutritional sound meal, but in a society where a sugar breakfast cereal can be considered ‘healthy’ because the proper nutrients have been added to it, perhaps we need to go back to the basics.
At Avatar, our dietitian works closely with each client assisting them in creating positive dietary patterns. A diet is merely what we eat, not a radical change or restriction. A proper diet should be calorically correct and nutritionally balanced and composed mostly of real, none produced food. We want to make certain that all clients eat well.
What We Eat
A proper diet contains everything that poor diet does, but in moderation. Baring dietary restrictions, wine, chocolate and sweets can all be enjoyed, but one must becoming aware of the difference between food that is situational and enjoyable (I am out for a special evening), and compulsory and convenient (the sweets at the office). It’s the foods in the later category that are typically the worst for us and are far too prevalent. One must apply the intelligence used in other aspects of life to nutrition.
Pick Your Battles
We work within your lifestyle. It you are an individual that continually dines out, asking you to cook at home is a recipe for failure. We would rather educate you on how to make better choices while out. If you cook at home, this education is for decisions at the grocery store and recipes to cook.
Weight Change
If weight modification is a goal, once a proper diet is achieved, we help the client with a short term change; either a restriction or addition. Once the goal is achieved the change is removed leaving a proper diet, a stabilized weight and the ability for long term success.
